The Stunning Waters of Glass Beach

More than its waters, is the sand. The Glass beach is located at the MacKerricher park in California. Its strange name its because long time ago, the villagers of Fort Bragg left their waste on the cliff. Devastating damage was caused to the landscape and the authorities took the problem on their hands.

During a long time, multiple cleaning programs were set on to get the beach back. The waves make their work too, During the cycle of time, the waves were eroding the glass and pottery and the pieces of glass were no longer so sharp and formed a beautiful sand of glass and colors that cover the beach.

In 1998 the owner of the beach, decided that Crystal beach must be for everyone. And began a 5 years process to clean the place, after that, The beach was sold to the united states.

The beach is now visited by many tourists every year. Harvesting the stones is not allowed. Glass that has passed overboard can be found in other areas outside the boundaries of the beach and every year there is a glass festival on Memorial Day.
